Criteria for Admission at Gateway House of Peace

  • Diagnosis of terminal illness, enrolled in hospice and a prognosis of 3 months or less.

  • A person must be under the care of The Community Hospice of Saratoga to reside at Gateway House of Peace. If not yet under Hospice care, Saratoga County residents need to contact The Community Hospice or Saratoga to determine eligibility. Non-Saratoga County residents need to contact the Hospice organization serving your local community for eligibility and have that Hospice organization transfer you to The Community Hospice of Saratoga.

  • Do not resuscitate order (DNR); no life sustaining measures to be done.

  • No extraordinary care needs; we must be able to provide safe & comfortable care that can be managed by staff and volunteers.

Gateway House of Peace is staffed 24 hours a day and supplemented by dedicated volunteers

Gateway House of Peace is NOT a medical facility; care is provided as their own “family” would provide for a loved one.

We are unable to provide IV therapy, feeding tubes, or manage difficult behaviors.

Admission decisions are not based on age, creed, color, ethnic background, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs.

With the above criteria in mind, resident selection is based on the person with the greatest need and fewest options.

Maximum stay is limited to 3 months in order to provide care for as many people in our community who are in need.
